We have really enjoying our trip thus far. It has been four years since we have had a chance to spend time together. We are excited that we have been able to spend some of it together in New York! We packed a lot of sightseeing into four days! One of our highlights happened on Thursday. We got to see the Statute of Liberty. We lucked out and got tickets to enter the pedistal for the statute (they limit the daily number to 3,000). There are between 7,000 – 25,000 people who visit the statute daily.
After seeing the statute, we went to Ellis Island. Some of Mike’s Mom’s grandparents and their siblings passed through Ellis Island before arriving in Northeastern Iowa. Mike was amazed to learn that over 100 million Americans can trace a relative back to Ellis Island!
